For over 100 years, POTTERS has been researching and developing Glass Microspheres for use as functional fillers for improving products performances. Developed originally to extend plastic compounds, Hollow Spheres are now widely used as performance additives in diverse applications such as Composites materials, Building & Construction Chemicals, Adhesives, Sealants, Castings among others and are fully compatible with commonly used resins such as polyesters, epoxies, phenolic resins, urethanes.
Hollow Glass Microspheres are unique additives that formulators in Automotive, Aerospace, Chemical, Electronic, Industrial, Engineering and other industries are using to improve mechanical, electrical, rheological, thermal & acoustic properties of thermoset resins to enhance performances of their products and reduce reject rates in production.
These microspheres are available in many particle sizes, densities and strengths to meet specific requirements of our customer’s applications.
Hollow Spheres are almost five times lighter than commonly used resins and only a fraction of the density of the mineral fillers like Talc and Calcium Carbonates. It only takes a small addition by weight of Hollow Spheres to displace heavier materials. They simultaneously reduce density and add volume
On a volume basis, microspheres are a fraction of the cost of resins and high loadings of hollow spheres can be achieved without unacceptable increases in viscosity, displacing even more Resin. When using hollow microspheres, the formulator must consider cost per unit volume instead of cost per unit weight and with the drastic volume increase, the hollow spheres demonstrate being the most cost-effective choice in many applications.
